Bert's Café is a place for students to converse, study, and relax while enjoying a cup of coffee or tasty treat without having to leave the library. Bert's café is located at the Shapiro Undergraduate Library. Blue Bucks and Dining Dollars are accepted
Now that the Shapiro Undergraduate Library (the UGLi) is open 24 hours a day, Bert’s Café in partnership with Central Student Government and University Unions will be open 24 hours during those critical study days -- beginning on October 19th. Bert’s and the UGLi want to be your study support!
U-M students are bright individuals who can balance school, work, student organizations, and it seems, everything else under the sun. Bert’s and the UGLi want to make it easier for students to operate on their own schedule in order to reach their full potential. If your study style is burning the midnight oil, the Unions will be there for you. If you have a different sleep, work, or study schedule, Bert’s can be your support.
Because Bert’s want to be your study support here are some quick study tips if you are planning on studying into the night:
- Got Sleep? - Remember 7-9 hours is recommended
- Stay Hydrated!
- Eat Brain Foods - yogurt, cheese, cranberries, and protein-rich foods
- Stay Focused - Remove distractions (silence phone, get off Facebook)
- Wrie down study goals!
- Take periodic breaks
- Remember to get up and move.
- And if you need a nap keep it to 10-20 mins!
From the University Unions and the Bert’s Café Team, we wish you happy studies!
Bert's Café, made possible by the generosity of Bertram Askwith (LSA '31) opened in 2008 to bring students and staff a convenient quality café. Bert's has a friendly, professional staff and offers the inviting atmosphere of the library and the new Bert's Study Lounge! It's the perfect place to study, converse with friends, conduct meetings (we cater!), or simply relax with a cup of hot coffee or a tasty treat.
"See you at Bert's!"
The location, right in the foyer of the Undergraduate Library, is perfect for students and staff. The location allows for ease of access to coffee, snacks, or meals while studying in the library. Convenient!
We support our local vendors in our effort to bring you the best ingredients for our products. Check out our new menu items from Great Harvest Bread Co. and the Jamaican Jerk Pit, two popular Ann Arbor vendors.
We strive to bring students and staff the widest selection of dining options from certified MHealthy options to vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices!
