Every year in April, the Billiards & Games Room hosts a Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) to support the Association of College Unions International and to provide additional competitive opportunities for college students who play pool. Students compete in regional events throughout February and March across the country; for those who don't manage to earn a top spot in their regional events, the LCQ offers them one more shot at an invitation to the prestigious ACUI Championships, which have taken place since 1937!
The 2014 LCQ will take place on April 12-13. It is possible that we will finish in one day, but you must be prepared to come back on Sunday. This depends greatly on the number of participants.
The Billiards Room will open at 11AM for practice, with the Players' Meeting and random draw at 12:00.
Register on the ACUI website. Registration will remain open until 11AM on the day of the tournament, or until all 48 spots are taken (whichever comes first).
Member institution* students register before 5PM on Friday, 4/4: $30
Register between 5PM on 4/4 and 11AM on 4/12 (if spaces remain open): $40
*Registration fees for students at institutions that are not ACUI members are 40% higher. When you register, be sure to enter the name of your school so the registration system recognizes you accordingly.
The top 25% of each division (minimum 2) from the LCQ will be invited to the ACUI 9-ball Championships. The University of Michigan will pay the registration fee ($125) for the top male and top female in the LCQ. If more than 16 players register, U-M will also pay 50% of the 2nd place finishers' registration fees.
Travel and lodging expenses for both LCQ and the ACUI 9-ball Championships are on your own or, if available, funded by your school.
