As the student union on North Campus,  Pierpont Commons strives to provide needed services to our students. You'll find academic and support services conveniently located on the main floor and lower level.

Office of the Registrar
The Office of the Registrar handles many student issues like grade inquiries, academic reports, student ID number changes, address changes, enrollment and tuition-related questions. They also process requests for official transcripts and certification. Call the office during business hours for more information about services provided.

International Center
The North Campus International Center is the office for Faculty and Staff immigration Services (FSIS). The FSIS team provides the following services to U-M foreign national employees and departments on the Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint campuses:

• Advises departments on U-M and U.S. Citizenship and immigration Services (USCIS) policies and procedures for employing foreign nationals to ensure compliance with U.S. immigration laws and regulations
• Prepares and files employment-based visa petitions with USCIS on behalf of the Unviversity of Michigan
• Coordinates other employment-based immigration petitions in which the University of Michigan is the petitioner with approved, external immigration attorneys retained by the University
• Conducts workshops on topics for foreign national faculty, staff, and U-M departments.

The FSIS office does not field questions for F-1 or J-1 visa holders. Those individuals must go to the Central Campus International Center for assistance (located next to the Michigan Union).

Department of Public Safety
Located on the north level of Pierpont Commons, the Department of Public Safety provides security for the University. Call them in case of an emergency; they are trained for quick and informational responses. Call them any time to report a fire, crime, any suspicious circumstances or to report emergency maintenance problems at night or on the weekends. They will also help if you need a University door unlocked.
