Is the Ugli looking a little ugly these days? Switching up where you study can increase your ability to focus and retain the information you read! Check out some of our favorite spots on campus to get into the nitty gritty of the semester!
Reading and Quiet Study Lounge--The Michigan Union: Not ready to face the intimidating silence of the Law Library? Looking for a Hogwarts-esque study space that’s centrally located? The Michigan Union’s got you covered. Come study in a room fit for a king (of wizardry that is) and settle into the plush chairs as you work in a silent room that also provides a calming atmosphere. This is a go-to for when you’re ready for some long term, and late night, studying. With all the Union restaurants available, and the room open until 2 a.m., you’ll be set for the whole night.
Beanster’s Cafe--The Michigan League: Love the sounds of coffee shops? The Michigan League’s Beanster’s Cafe provides a perfect setting for group study or an active atmosphere to help you feed off the energy of others. With extended seating past the dining area, which includes a room of beautiful stained glass windows, you can get comfy as you prep for exams and enjoy the campus scenery. The best part? You’re only a couple steps away from the delicious food and indispensable caffeine Beanster’s has to offer!
The Piano Lounge--Pierpont Commons: They say playing classical music while a baby is still in the womb makes them smarter. Are they right? Does doing the same thing when you’re 20 and have a front seat on the struggle bus work just as well? We’re not taking any chances and neither should you. What you should do is checkout the Piano Lounge in Pierpont where, as you’re cramming for your “midterms” that never seem to end, you can soothe away any nervousness with the beautiful sounds of the piano! Can it get better than that? Well, you couldn’t be closer to some of the most delectable eateries on campus; so yes, it can get better.
The Tap Room--The Michigan Union: Do you like your study space a little more secluded, exclusively used for studying? Well, the Tap Room is for you! The thing students like most about the Tap Room is its location: it's tucked away in a cozy nook of the MUG (Michigan Union Underground) and super close to the Union's tasty restaurants! This room isn’t one that you’ll pass everyday so, when you do go in, it’ll be refreshing and welcoming. There’s something about the room being a little tucked away that upholds a unique authenticity, unlike any other study space on campus. The Tap Room is full of tradition, and generations of Wolverines just like you have been studying there for years, which is pretty sweet!
