The Michigan Union is Student Organization Headquarters. With support services to help with anything from finances and marketing to reserving an office space, the Unions help Student Orgs thrive. We asked a few students about how the Unions have helped their student orgs:
member Foundation President
UU: What resources in the Union have you used for your org?
Joe: We work very closely with CCI; they assist us in booking rooms and dates so we can put on concerts for students. Without them, we really couldn't do what we do! Also, SOAS is always very informative and helpful in making sure I have everything I need to properly document my organization's funding.
Nicolette & Ali: SOAS, SORC, Student org offices, CCI
UU: What was the most helpful resource?
Joe: SORC is a great resource for accessing the diag boards, which is an awesome way to get the word out about your event to a ton of students.
Ali: I love [the Office Space Allocation Committee] because we get SO MUCH work done in our Circle K office and it is an extremely major convenience in all of our lives.
UU: What’s an interesting fact about or an experience you’ve had with the Union’s student org resources?
Nicolette: SORC puts on a variety of roundtables for student orgs, such as fundraising and marketing, which highlight some of the great resources on campus for us to use for free or for a low cost! For instance, if you attend a roundtable, you get a discount code for advertising on the screens in places such as the Fishbowl. Plus, they are a great way to network with other student orgs and form partnerships.
Ali: An interesting fact I have about my experience with these resources is the fact that I visit some of these places so often that they have started recognizing me as soon as I walk in/up and they know exactly what I need, which is very helpful.
