To commemorate the university’s bicentennial, University Unions and the Michigan League present the Women on Campus video series. Three videos capture thoughts from different generations of women about similar issues. It’s an interesting look at changes that have occurred on our college campus over many decades.
About the video development
In celebration of the Michigan League’s 75th Anniversary in 2001, the Friends of the League, working with Enid Galler, interviewed women graduates from the 1920’s through the 1960’s. Topics included: activities at the Michigan League, living arrangements, social life on campus, interest in national and world events, and the benefits of a University of Michigan education.
In 2013 School of Information MSI student, Peter Zubulake, Class of 2013, digitized the audio-cassette taped interviews for the Michigan League to share and for the Bentley Historical Library to include in their archives.
This year, Sarah Shelby, LSA- Screen Art & Cultures Class of 2017, listened to the past alumnae interviews and asked current women student leaders some of the same questions to create these videos for the Bicentennial.
